Steve Kenna - Press Gang Printmakers

Steve joined the Pressgang in 2012. His training was in architecture but the creative work in the last 3 years has focused on his exploration of painting in watercolour, oils and pastels, Monotype printing but also in the traditional ‘Intaglio’ print-making techniques of copper and aluminium Etching and Aquatint.

"I love the long history of Etching and though I work predominantly with contemporary ‘non-toxic’ production methods it still feels a privilege to be part of a tradition spanning several hundred years."

Etching, Monotype printing and Watercolour also brings out what is his principle strength - that of drawing but he is also exploring the lively correspondence with some of the techniques of watercolour and those of etching/aquatint which are quite unexpected.
