Anita joined Press Gang in 2007

Over the last few years Anita has become well known for her dynamic paintings and drawings of the West Country moorland and coastline. Since joining Press Gang in 2007 she has produced a range of collagraphs, etchings and monoprints.

"I like the spontaneity of working within the landscape; it allows me to work in a dynamic way which captures the spirit of the place. I revisit the same locations in order to record subtle changes in the landscape. When visiting a new landscape most of the effort is spent understanding the anatomy of the place. By revisiting, a deeper understanding is reached. I sometimes feel I have only just started to see the place properly after painting it many times."

Anita's move into printmaking has allowed her to develop her passion for surface texture and mark making. This year she has been focussing on the unique rock formations and ancient settlements found on Dartmoor. Patterns in the landscape representing rhythms of natural erosion, and the impact of human habitation have been the starting point for this new work.
